Your KS need to successfully deal with enemy queen and defending clan castle troops or the attack will fail. Lets take it from the beginning:
Step 1 – Scouting
You want to find a way to reach the enemy queen and defending clan castle troops with your KS. This could be from one of the four sides, or a corner. You want to reach it using a single jump and/or wall breakers. I prefer to use only jump in most cases when it’s possible, simply because it’s more reliable.
In your scouting you also want to plan your heals. Look for possible giant bomb locations since they’re one of the biggest threats against your hogs.
Step 2 – Funnel
Generally speaking you drop your Golems and then your funneling troops. If there’s a Builder Hut in a corner, or another building out of reach from defenses then you could of course drop that funneling troop before the Golem.
In the composition in this guide we bring 10 Wizards and a Baby Dragon for funneling (and clean up). You may change these around to fit your liking and particular attack.
In a standard scenario you’ll see two golems bashing on a wall and 6-7 Wizards creating a funnel. At this point you want to break open the wall or place the jump.
Step 3 – Kill Squad
Once the funnel is complete and the jump and/or wall breaker action is out of the way it’s time to deploy the KS. It’s normally deployed just before the very last buildings fall in the funnel, to direct them exactly where you want (we’ll see this in the video). The primary goal for the KS is to kill the enemy Archer Queen and defending clan castle troops. This is a perfect place for one of the poison spells, preferably a max level one from CC.
A secondary objective for the KS is to trigger traps. Any spring traps triggered by a Golem, Barbarian King or Archer Queen is great, same goes with Giant Bombs.
A third objective, for the Golems, is to pick up heat from defenses to protect the hogs that are about to be released. This ain’t something to noticeably consider when scouting, rather just to keep in mind.
Step 4 – Hog Riders!
Normally you want to deploy your hogs so they create a synergy with your KS. This means deploying them nearby where your KS is taking heat from some of the defenses. The result is your hogs taking less damage, and the hogs making your KS take less damage. Example:
You can deploy the hogs the very second your KS has engaged both the queen and clan castle troops, there’s no point in waiting for them to finish just for the sake of waiting.
When deploying hogs there’s mainly two ways; spamming and surgical. Spamming means you drop them in a big line from point A to B where you want them to enter. Surgical is deploying them few at a time on each defense. Both ways got their pros and cons and obviously you’ll have better control and can better plan the pathing with surgical deployment while spamming is a lot easier to use and begin with.
Once the hogs are out you need to keep them alive!
Step 5 – Spells and awareness
Heal placements are essential to the success with GoHo. When scouting you should plan a few heal spots where you believe they’re needed. Such places are potential Giant Bombs, Bomb Tower, Tesla farms or any place with considerable splash damage like multiple Wizard Towers with potential Giant Bombs. You need to be on your toes and be ready to heal if something unexpected happens.
Having a second poison spell for skeletons hunting your hogs can sometimes make or break an attack. It can also help against an offset BK hitting your hogs.
Getting confident with the funnel and KS is very important. Like everything else it takes practice to make perfect. GoHo benefits a lot from being used as a cleanup attack in war where the base has been attacked before. Knowing the location of Giant Bombs, Hidden Teslas, etc makes it easier to plan your spells and attack.
